Nicolas Lopez
Born in 1984 in Huancayo, Peru, Nicolas Lopez grew up in a family of artists, immersing himself in painting, music, and the performing arts. He specialized in watercolor, refining his craft at the School of Fine Arts of Ayacucho and later at the National School of Art Carlos Baca Flor in Arequipa, the only institution in Peru dedicated to watercolor techniques.
His artistic journey is defined by movement—both in style and spirit—capturing the ever-changing landscapes of his life. This nomadic approach earned him the nickname "El Trotamundos" (The Globetrotter), a title given by La República after consecutive wins at the National Salon of Watercolor ICPNA in 2014 and 2015.
His work has been recognized internationally, earning first prizes in prestigious competitions across Peru, Argentina, Chile, and Mexico, including the John Constable Prize for Peruvian Landscape and the Gold Medal at the International Watercolor Exhibition in Mexico. Through his art, he invites us to join his journey—a continuous exploration of the world through watercolor.
